iTrivia: All about Apple review

How much of an Apple fanatic are you? You may carry every Apple product known to man and have a device surgically attached to your hand at all times, but how much do you know about the company, really? iTrivia: All About Apple is a quiz app for iPhone developed by the binary family, designed to ascertain exactly that.

iTrivia (I see what you did with the name format there) contains 500 multiple-choice questions “written by Apple fans for Apple fans.” Five categories in five difficulty levels are covered, including: Hardware, Software, People, History, and Miscellaneous. Ten questions are presented in each round, after which you are given a mini-evaluation of how you performed; be sure to keep an eye out for your Apple Knowledge Quotient, and to read the oft-hilarious qualifications over your status. Your results are saved in real-time.

There’s a great Review Questions option on the home screen that reveals how many questions you’ve answered incorrectly in each category. You can choose any section to start answering those same questions in hopes of redeeming yourself. Instead of showing up ten at a time, however, questions in this section are presented one-by-one, giving you the chance to hop between categories.

Like most of the products that carry the Apple name, this quiz app is polished in a minimalistic way. There aren’t any fantastic graphics to mention (which is slightly ironic) and the background music/sound effects are not too memorable, but the content is presented fairly well with a consistent color scheme and design. After the 500 questions have been cycled through, there isn’t really much else to do, but content of this matter is easy to come by–especially when in the hands of the public. I don’t know if OpenFeint is in the works to be integrated, but it seems like it really should be. How else are you going to show off your Apple geek skills? I, for one, think it would be a fantastic idea to award the highest scorers with actual prizes, such as iTunes gift cards. In the meantime, test your fan knowledge thoroughly for only $0.99.
