Helicopter vs. Zombies review

If you are into flight simulation games and enjoy ones that employ the accurate physics of helicopter piloting, then Helicopters vs. Zombies is sure to get you lifted off your launch pad. It is an app developed by Bruno Ciccone and designed by an actual helicopter pilot. It is compatible with an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and it costs $0.99.

Because the tilting mechanism is critical to the steering of your helicopter you must first select the style in which you hold your device. Aside from that, there are also controls to increase and decrease your elevation and to steer the rudder, changing the direction the helicopter faces. You are challenged with flying through smoke rings high above the ground in a 3-dimensional sky environment and carefully landing on heliports in between. This is not as easy as it sounds considering the fact that large green mechanized zombies appear without warning obstructing your path and attempting to destroy your helicopter. You must use your piloting prowess to avoid being obliterated by the googly-eyed monstrosities. The actual flying of the helicopter takes place from a bird’s eye view of your 3-D craft and requires a sensitive touch that takes a little bit of practice to master. From the time that your game begins, you are given 123 seconds to master your level. Nimbly completing the required tasks scores you points with occasional chances at scoring double points. You need 1500 points to complete level one and 3000 points to complete level two. Seeing as how flying your helicopter under these chaotic conditions can sometimes lead you to be discombobulated and pointing in the wrong direction, it is helpful that the game notifies you which direction the correct path lies once you have gotten off of it.

I found Helicopters vs. Zombies to be suitably demanding of the user in the way of a true flight simulator. Definitely expect to devote a good amount of time to mastering the controls before you will be able to complete a level. It is a well-designed and challenging app that the avid virtual pilot will surely dedicate hours to.
