PhotoFilter review

PhotoFilter is a photography app that has the ability to turn your picture into nearly anything you want it to be. It was developed by 3DTOPO Inc., costs $2.99, and is compatible with an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

I have never seen a photo-adjusting app with more options. You choose or take a photo, crop it for viewing, then begin your PhotoFilter journey. The app offers over 50 different digital filters and effects. There are about 30 effects and 20 image correction filters. Some of the best effects include, Pop Art, Oil Painting, Poster, Charcoal, Sepia Tone, Super Contrast, and Video Game.

The image corrections include, Gaussian Blur, Hue/Saturation, Auto Gamma, Negative, and Sharpen. You can mix and match the image correction and artistic filters for an unlimited amount of effects. You can also rotate, scale, and crop images for both portrait and landscape positions. If you dislike what you have done with a picture, you can undo your changes from 0% to 100% easily using an Undo scroll at the bottom of the page. Almost ever filter is customizable with sliders and an invert button. To save time, there is a preview screen so that you can determine ahead of time if the effect or filter is what you are going for. Most of the filters are fast and take mere seconds to apply but some are more involved and can take up to a minute to complete. Once you finish, you can save your new picture to your photo library and share it via Facebook, email, and Twitter.

There are so many options offered through PhotoFilter that it will make your head spin. It took me a good hour or two to go through and play with all of the possible effects. My Photo library has nearly doubled since I have gotten PhotoFilter because I have applied changes using the app to all of the existing pictures. I have sharpened the color of a gorgeous sunset, turned a picture of the skyline into an oil painting, charcoaled a portrait of my dog, and changed a day scene into night.
