The MTV News application, brought to us by MTV Networks, and compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is probably the best thing to happen to those of you who live for entertainment news and the latest antics from Jersey Shore castmates. This app is free and provides almost everything that the MTV website has to offer.
To start with, there is a constant flow of news feed pumped into the app about everything from Neil Patrick Harris expecting twins to the demands of American Idol fans regarding the newest judges. The news is divided between Breaking and most current and All News. In the All News section you can choose which category you are interested in perusing including Music, Celebrities, Shows, Movies, and Gaming.
There is also a My News section, which allows for you to customize what kind of news—from the categories listed above in the All News section—you want listed on that page. You can edit this page whenever you want. In each of the three news sections you have the option of viewing the feed in rows with the synopses attached or as a sea of images pertaining to which celebrity the article happens to be about. Also given to us are videos and photos of everything from concerts to celebrity yearbook pictures. The blogs section is broken up into the usual categories of movies, gaming, etc. In the settings section you can share any of the aforementioned information through Facebook or Twitter. There is no better Twitter status update than an article of Snooki explaining how she is “too pretty” to be locked up in a jail cell with her booking picture of her mascara-streaked, frowning smurf face attached. Maybe you are trying to convince your boyfriend to take you to Eat Pray Love, you can simply use MTV News to post the reviews for that movie on his Facebook wall.
MTV News costs you nothing and is a nice, mind-numbing complement to a more serious and depressing New York Times app. When you are done catching up on terrorism and oil spills you can read Snooki and Emilio: Their ‘Jersey Shore’ Love Story.
