Google Calendar has just released an iPhone optimized version which can be accessed by visiting http://calendar.google.com/ from Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch. The layout has been fully changed and the appearance is very friendly and familiar to that of native iPhone applications.
If you don’t sync your Calendar with the iPhone, or just want to access your Google Calendar on the go and add new appointments, try loading Google Calendar in your iPhone. You get access to your tasks and appointments with a simple interface. You can also easily add new events by typing the literal text such as “Birthday Party 9pm tomorrow”, “Go to the Gym 6pm every other day” or “Party on 25 August 11pm at Hollywood and Vine” etc. This is not an iPhone optimized app but it works quite well on the iPhone. Unfortunatley, the Google Calendar does not work with the iPod touch. After some examination on my part, I have found out that, because the iPod Touch identifies itself as an iPod, many sites that offer “iPhone optimized” versions of there sites do not display these versions on the iPod touch. All these sites have to do is look for both the string “iPhone” and the string “iPod.

Russel,
Has your wife or you clicked on one of the “Classic” links like the one that appears at the bottom of the iPhone optimized google home page?
