This scanning application uses the camera in your iPhone as a link from products to websites. With this application, you can scan a ScanLife EZcode and be directed to a website. Doesn’t work with UPC codes though, it is meant only for codes created at the ScanLife website.
So what is the point of all this. It lets marketers put the EZcode on their products, and send mobile iPhone users to the company website. So for example lets say you buy a magazine and you want to check out the website, or you buy a plane ticket but want to check the arrivial time. There’s no need to search by keyword or type in a long web address. You can go to www.scanlife.com to scan codes right now or create your own codes that link to your social networking site or contact information.

I had my friend download the ScanLife application to his iPhone so I could give it a test drive.
For starters, the application can only read and decipher proprietary EZcodes. Unfortunately the ScanLife application offers no support for 1D UPC/EAN barcodes, or Data Matrix, Aztec, or QR codes. This is the major downfall of the application, since it only supports one proprietary 2D symbology. As a result, ScanLife is not a true universal code reader.
