iNdependence is a Cocoa-based application for Mac OS X which provides an easy-to-use interface to jailbreak, activate and install ringtones, wallpaper, and 3rd party applications on your 1.1.1 iPhone.
A couple weeks ago, the iPhone Dev Team released a method for “jailbreaking”, or unlocking the iPhone 1.1.1 requiring nearly seventy steps. iNdependence 1.2.5 is a Mac GUI Jailbreak tool for iPhones that have updated to 1.1.1 firmware. A GUI for Windows is also available by the name of iDemocracy.
iNdependence is open source and is DEFINITELY not Apple certified.
Update: Independence has been updated and is able to Jailbreak iPhone update version 1.1.4.
Use iPhone mods and hacks at your own risk! Installing 3rd Party iPhone apps requires you to jailbreak the iPhone before installing the native software and apps. If you have not updated your iPhone to 1.1.1 yet, you can use Installer.app for Mac OSX and iBrickr for Windows PC to do this instead of iNdependence.
