The Dopplr app is dubbed the Social Atlas for the iPhone because it puts the combined knowledge of travelers in your pocket, making it a great social travel guide and local exploration tool. You can keep track of your fellow travelers, find out where they are now, and what future trips they have planned. You can even contact them directly from inside the app. You can view your own planned trips, and find co-incidences where fellow travelers will be nearby.

The Dopplr community recommends places for you to eat, stay and explore, in close proximity of where you and your iPhone are at the time. Join the growing Dopplr community and suggest hidden gems that you discover or know about right from the iPhone app. Don’t like your surroundings and looking to get away? Tap on the Cities tab. An alphabetical list of the top 250 cities on Dopplr opens. Choose the one you want.
