Wanna stop carrying around your Viper keychain? The Viper SmartStart iPhone app lets you remote start, lock, and unlock your car by pushing a button on your iPhone or iPod touch. The Viper SmartStart app’s main screen looks like a keychain with a clean interface containing 5 main buttons: Lock, Unlock, Trunk, Panic and Smart Start. You can also do things like turn on the and A/C, the heater, and defrost your Window from far away in the parking lot. The app requires you to have a compatible Viper system in your car with a SmartStart service plan which cost about $29 per year. You can also control multiple vehicles if you have loved ones or family members and assign more than one user to control a vehicle.
The Viper SmartStart systems sell for $499, and if you already have a Viper SmartStart system with a keyfob, the module costs $299. The Viper SmartStart will be available at Best Buy stores starting today. The Viper SmartStart app is developed by Directed Electronics.

Too bad its only a 1 way system and will not do 2 way communication. Nor will it do as many other things as other stuff on the market already. While it is cool, it is very limited. Sucks that Best Buy are the only ones who have it, when the real installers in the country have to wait. Good idea releasing it to Best Buy first, way to pee in your dealers face’s. Your independent dealers put Viper systems on the map, and you go and slap them in the face. That truly sucks.
