The Tribune and Los Angeles Times have released a simple free iPhone app called L.A. Times News Reader that gives you fast and easy access to news and information around the LA area community. The iPhone covers news stores in the LA area categorized by topic including Top Stories, Business, Entertainment, Environment, Health, Local News, Nation/World, Opinions, Politics, and Science.
The app is broken down into two major sections. The top portion shows a large readable headlines, which you can scroll through by flicking left or right. Tap on any headline and you will get the full story on the bottom portion of the iPhone app. You can drag the divider up to increase your reading pane while reading the full article. Tap any category to filter the headlines shown by that topic. On the top you can also tap on the list button to view the headlines as a flat list of links instead of the large scrollable headlines.
The app is not terribly complicated and does not too many features, but is a quick way to flick through the latest LA Times news headlines.
This 3rd Party App is available at the Apple iTunes AppStore. Browse the full list of all AppStore apps filed under the AppStore category.
