Learn to Ride

Are you a snowboard fanatic or maybe just curious after watching the Winter Olympics? If you’ve ever wondered how in the world you can do a frontside 720 Shifty on your snowboard, take a look at the Learn to Ride app from Addicted to Snow. Watch and learn using 10 simple and short video clips starring three pro riders: Thomas Feurstein, Florian Mausser, and Xaver Hoffmann.

The Learn to Ride app is broken down into 5 sections including Tricks, Basics, RSS, Download and More. The tricks section lets you watch videos of the 10 tricks along with the option of watching in Slow motion, and a sequence photo layout with step by step instructions, and a short rider bio. You can filter the tricks by beginner, advanced, and pro or by type like Jibs, Kicker, and Pipe. Although there are no Pipe tricks in the app as of now, we’re hoping to see some added in the next release.

If you’re like me and just want to read and learn about snowboarding terminology, the Basics section is a great quick read. Here you’ll see a list of terms along with short definitions. For example did you know that a Stalefish grab is when the rear hand grabs the heelside edge between the bindings?

Reading the news headlines straight from addictedtosnow.com is easy enough using the RSS section which links to Safari where you can read the entire story. The download section is where you can grab some really neat iPhone wallpapers, and buy the Addicted to Snow eBook for two dollars. What’s great is that you can stream and watch the entire 22 minute Addicted to Snow movie “Nitro ESPERANTO”, which is a wonderfully made Snowboarding film that can be fun to watch and a good source of motivation for experimenting with new tricks. If you’re a fan of snowboarding, and wanna own an iPhone app the helps you represent your love for the sport, the Learn to Ride should be included as one of your options.
