Whirly word is a fun and relaxing world puzzle app for the iPhone with a whirly twist. You get six letters in a circle, somewhat resembling of an old rotary phone dial, and you try to come up with as many words as you can from those 6 letters. Guess enough words and you will get the green light to move onto the next level. Words can be anywhere from 3 to 6 letters long. Whirly Word is awesome because it won’t give you high blood pressure or anxiety attacks trying to beat a timer. There is no time limit here so take a deep breath, relax and let your mind wonder. You just have fun coming up with anagrams while learning new words. When you get to the green line, you hear a melodic sound telling you you can now move to the next puzzle or continue the same puzzle if you wish. To feed your curiosity, Whirly Word will shown you all the possible words before you move on, along with words found, your score, total words found, total score, and puzzles solved.
To give you a taste of a sample Whirly Word game, how many words exist in these 6 letters: I R G H W T? If you guessed 16, you’re right. Most of the words are quite simple and fun to come up with, for example: HIT, WIG, and WITH. Some of the less common words would be TRIG, and WHIR, and the six letter word here is WRIGHT. To help you relax even more, the game plays an eastern influenced flute music in the background, which we found somewhat redundant and felt relieved to find the sound off from the game menu. Speaking of options you can choose a custom color scheme for the game board, as well as turning off the help menu, and picking shapes used for missing letters. Created by Mighty Mighty Good games, Whirly Word holds true to its developers promise and is a breath of fresh air from your average scrambled letter iPhone games.

My daughter thought this was something else when she installed it but has become an addict! Pretty good for a kid doing remedial spelling at school. She’s even looking up the words she doesn’t know in the dictionary. Pretty good when learninig is fun
Love the game, however, I just had to update iTunes to version 4.0 and now the Whirly wheel and functions (Whirl, Clear, the letters) do NOT work. So, now I cannot play this wonderful game. What’s up? Is a game update coming? I have the Free version and the purchased version.
