Paper Finance review

Paper Finance is a productivity app that brings the job of keeping track of your finances with spreadsheets to the world of Apple applications. It was developed by idealSky Software, LLC for an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and costs $2.99. There is also a Lite version of the app that is free.

If you have ever used Excel or QuickBooks to keep track of your finances, then you should be familiar with the general process of using this app and if you have not used software to keep your financial affairs in order, then maybe you should start.

The first thing you get when opening the app is a thorough tutorial that I found beyond helpful. The following is a full account of what the tour went over. Paper Finance has three main screens, Home, Reporting, and Budgeting. The Home screen provides you with a look at your current expenses and income. There are three buttons at the bottom of the screen, Expense, Transfer, and Income that you can use to alter this page. The Settings option can also be accessed from Home. In Settings, you can customize your accounts and categories.

The Reporting screen provides you with a table organized by month. The table gives you an in-depth reporting and you can use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to alter this information. You can change the report’s type, and sort it by category or date range. You can also convert the report to a bar chart, pie chart, PDF, or CSV. The Budgeting screen allows you to track budgets for specific accounts and categories. Budgets also show helpful information, like your allowable spending by taking into consideration how much you have coming in and going out. You can backup your data at any time by using the emailing feature of this app.

Paper Finance is straightforward, and so easy to use that, as a former instructor used to say, “a trained parrot can use it.” Anyone can relate to having a need to budget properly and if you are someone who needs this sort of guidance and organization on the go then this app comes highly recommended.
