Cluck It! review

Cluck It is a fun Frogger style iPhone game where you help a Chicken help her baby chicks cross the road and head to school. To move the chicken all you have to do is tap the iPhone screen, so learning to play the game is super simple. There are anywhere from 2 to 8 lanes of cars on the street depending on how deep into the 50 levels you get.

Once you cross one chick over you have to come back across the street to send the remaining chicks to school. You only have to move vertically on the screen, the game does the horizontal movements for you, in other words the chicken runs away from cars coming towards it. That is until you run out of room or get boxed in, so be sure to avoid that. The game has a bonus feature if you “hood hop” on top of cars as you jump right in front of them, just close enough to not get hit. This is a really tough thing to figure out at first, as your timing has to be almost perfect for a hood hop. You can even chain your hood hops if you can get your chicken hop skills up that high.

The soundtrack is a feel good mariachi song, without the singing, which makes the game even more enjoyable. The quotes in the game are also well thought out. For example when you finish a level, you get to “count your chickens” as the app tallies up your score. There is also a time limit in Cluck It, which only became an issue for us when getting to the 5 lane levels.

Cluck It, is a perfect little time waster game that is addictive, and super fun to play. The graphics are cartoon like and are just shy of being perfect. The gameplay is super smooth and the landscape mode works perfectly on the iPhone. We only could wish for more added bonus actions, and road types perhaps, but for what it offers, you really can’t go wrong with this featured app. A job well done by Curios Bear productions.
