i3 review

i3 by Found in the Future Ltd is a simple iPhone puzzle game where your objective is to line up the color of cubes to gain points. The game is very easy to learn, but over time it becomes very challenging. i3 is an excellent game to play for one of those passing periods, or waiting for your date to show up.

Your objective in i3 is to line up the cubes and match the colors in lines. Doing this will allot you to double tap, or tap with two fingers to eliminate the blocks from screen to gain some points. You first start off with a single color cube, and as you progress the blocks you are given will have more shades on each side. It will be up to your thinking skills to decide how to move these cubes, and how to place them to make your rows of colors.

The controls are very simple. Tap or hold where you want your cube to go, tap to place the block, and double tap or two finger tap to eliminate rows of the same color. It was a bit difficult for me because I wanted to place the cube somewhere quicker and ended up rushing myself. This is definitely not how you are supposed to play this game. As hard as this game will eventually get, it takes patience. i3 is not like Tetris, where you can play at 100mph on level 99.

The other downside to i3 is that there’s only one game type. If it wasn’t for its fluent graphics, rendering and color clarity, the $1.99 price range would be high. Not only that, but the soundtrack used is on constant repeat, and sounds bad after 10 minutes of playing.

Again like what I always say, this game is worth buying if you have a bit of change lying around. It’s a very original idea for a puzzle game, and hasn’t been done a lot compared to those Tetris knock offs. Unfortunately I didn’t find a free version in the app store, so this would be a gamble, but ok for those who are into puzzle games.
