Linkoidz review

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a review and what better app to start off with than Linkoidz by Retro Dreamer for the iTouch and iPhone. I for one love Tetris along with Lumines. It’s because of these handheld games that made lines at the DMV shorter and procrastination a daily activity. Linkoidz as you may have figured by now is a puzzle game and takes strategy and time to master like all other stackers.

You are on a planet and these bacteria things just keep coming out of nowhere. Their goal is to eat you. You are equipped with a gun that absorbs the linkoidz and relocates them. Stacking three of these bacteria alien life forms makes them pop. After the “popping” your shield, which is used to hold up the linkoidz from devouring you, regens more armor.

The concept of Linkoidz is fairly simple to learn, and I personally have spent hours on it the first day I made my purchase in the app store. Linkoidz has a tutorial mode which allows you to unlock new worlds, which is a different backround and more or different types of linkoidz.

There are three game modes, Sprint, Endless, and Zen. In sprint mode, you are given a time limit to score as high as possible. Endless is as the name states and you are to score as high as you can until you are too tired to go on, or your shield falls apart. Finally there is zen mode. In zen mode, you take your time and clear everything, no worries of time limits or little Linkoidz eating you. What is also great is Linkoidz support open feint, so you can compare your scores along with many others online.

The color and animation is awesome for a cheap little app as this. Nothing feels like it was rushed, and you definitely feel good about the 99 cents that you spend onto this app. The game runs very smooth which is definitely a plus when your swiping your screen five times a second.

Definitely check out the free version in the app store. If you’re a big fan of puzzle games, with the price of 99 cents, this app for the iTouch screams satisfaction. Overall, Linkoidz will be another app that will be stashed in my collection of puzzle games.
