Demino review

Demino is a Domino game app developed by Kevin Ayre. It costs $1.99 and is compatible with an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This game is 1 part luck and 4 parts strategy.

You start with 28 tiles—7 at a time—and you have to work your way down to zero. You get rid of dominos by matching up the end of the last tile with the same number tile. Using a tile with the same number on both sides gets you double the amount of points. When you start with 7 dominos you select one to start the game. Once you have chosen, you have to keep the game going by making sure that your options are always open. The tiles that are allowed to be played shake from side to side to assist you with discerning them from the others.

If you stay 3 steps ahead of the game by choosing tiles with numbers that appear in at least 3 out of the 7 tiles then you can stay on top of the game and not be relying solely on your luck. For example, you choose a tile with a 3 on the left side and a 6 on the right side. You want to be sure that there are sixes and threes found in more than one tile on the screen. You have 28 tiles but the only ones you can choose from during game play are the ones that are in the slots on the screen. The rest are automatically filed in as you continue selecting and matching dominos. The game sounds a lot harder than it actually is.

It happens to be one of those games that is easier to play than to describe. In the upper left corner you can keep track of your score and in the upper right hand corner the level you are currently on is listed and the number of tiles you have left is found underneath.

Demino is yet another one of the gaming apps that allows you to loose yourself in its simple and mechanical dynamic. It is challenging enough to prevent it from getting tedious yet basic enough to get into it quickly.
