Graffiti Spray Can review

Living in an urban area means graffiti is a common sight. It may be a harsh, unseemly sight, but there are some instances in which graffiti can be beautiful or stirring. Not many people have or will take up a spray can, but with Elite Gudz’s Graffiti Spray Can app, you can be a tagger, too.

After some rather fancy splash screens, you are presented with a spray can. If you shake the iPhone or iPod Touch, the canister will as well, accompanied by realistic rattling sounds. Each shake changes the art on the spray can (its skin) and its color; tap Paint when you have the one you want. You can choose between 17 backgrounds to spray on by tapping Background on the bottom right, or you can tap the camera icon to choose a background from your Photo Album. iPhone users will also have the chance to use the built-in camera for a background.

Tapping the palette icon (first in the toolbar) will bring up all your spraying options, from color, cap size (like brush size), to eraser. There are six colors to choose from, and a slider to adjust the cap size. Once you’ve set up your canvas and paints, draw with your finger by tapping and dragging. You can save the photo, email it, or tweet it after you’re done creating your urban masterpiece.

For such a simple app, Graffiti Spray Can has amazing detail. From the rattling and spraying sounds to the urban backdrops, it strives to fully recreate a tagging environment for you to experience (the update in the new version steps away from this a little with its new backgrounds). Unfortunately, this art-inclined app is also short on options, so perhaps waiting for updates would be prudent. I’d love to see more colors, and the developers promise more features for the next version. Graffiti Spray Can is a fun way to express some angry creativity, and it’s a lot more legal to use than to deface real property, so pick it up for free to start tagging today.
