Society6 Daily Art Wallpapers and Backgrounds review

Tired of your standard-issue, run-of-the-mill iPhone/iPod Touch wallpapers? Ready to greet the day with something exciting? Then you definitely need to download Society6’s app, for it shall bring you a daily dose of pipin’ fresh art, wallpapers, and backgrounds. It’s not just another app full of stock photos and carefully cropped pictures–no, this is pure artistry served to you on a big platter.

One hundred pieces of art, to be precise. Actually, to be specific, one hundred new pieces of art…everyday. If that doesn’t get your attention, then perhaps the fact that everything Society6 presents to you is a homegrown original. Artists from all over the world are featured, along with as many different mediums as you can think of. I can’t guarantee that you’ll like everything, but I can promise that you’ll won’t be lacking in choices.

All you need is a working Internet connection and enough time/patience to swipe approximately one hundred times. The only controls you’ll need to know are the left and right arrow keys at the bottom of the screen, which also scroll through the pictures. Saving a picture you like is as easy as tapping the first button on the bottom bar; through it, you can also share with the world through email what you’ve decided on to outfit your device. If you find that you enjoy one artist’s works in particular, their websites will be linked in the same menu (if applicable).

Society6’s wallpaper app is super simple to use, and is full of eye candy. There’s only so many of the same pictures you can cycle through before you get bored (I know I’m the type to constantly switch around my backgrounds, wallpapers, etc.), and as long as you don’t mind waiting for 24 hours, you’ll know something new and exciting will be waiting for you. Having this app makes me feel like I’m hip to the knowledge of a cool underground secret. Best of all, it’s completely free for us, and giving the artists a chance to promote their work at the same time. Can’t argue with that.
