SoundTracking

SoundTracking is a brand new iPhone app that helps you share your music with all of your social media followers and friends. You can instantly show them what music you’ve been listening to on your phone, or what music you heard and enjoyed in the past. It’s part music discovery app and part social network all on its own, making it a unique experience that has to be tried in order to be appreciated.

The concept of SoundTracking is that of a mixture of social networking and music sharing. When you first open SoundTracking, you’ll see four functions. These are the main ways you can interact with the app , through the Trending, SoundTrack, Feed, and Notes options. The Feed option is where you’ll see your own soundtrack that you’ve created, as well as any soundtracks your friends have shared. The trending option allows you to see which artists are most popular on the service, similar to Twitter’s trending topics. If you see a song in the Trending topics that you like, there is an iTunes button that will allow you to purchase the song from iTunes.

The real strengths of the application is that it allows you to discover new music and see what your friends are listening to through SoundTrack. You can view your entire iPod or iPad library, as well as see if you have any new notifications from friends commenting on a post in your own soundtrack. It’s easy to add new songs to your soundtrack as well as discover new songs that others are listening to as well, making this great for any music lover.

Since SoundTracking is entirely free to use, there’s no point in not trying it out. It integrates well with already established social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and FourSquare, so you can share all of your music with your friends and family on those networks as well. The relative ease of finding music and the option to purchase it on iTunes is another great feature, since you essentially have the entire iTunes catalog at your finger tips should you decide you want to buy any of the sound snippets you hear.

Overall, if you listen to music every day on your iPod Touch , iPhone, or iPad , you should definitely give SoundTracking a try. As a music discovery service it is one of the best available on the market, and as a social tool for sharing your preferences you won’t find anything better.
