YGS Supper Shaker review

If you’re having trouble deciding what to cook for tonight, grab You’ve Got Supper’s Supper Shaker app to help you. First, choose a category, which ranges from Baking Goods to Meat/Seafood to Spices. Then choose an ingredient that you know you have (or are going to get) and shake the iPhone to find a recipe (or you can just tap the button that says Shake). If what comes up catches your fancy, just choose it and all the information that you need will come up: serving size, preparation time, etc. Hit More to read the cooking instructions. Or, if you don’t like what you see, you can go back to the first menu and shake again to try another recipe.

The Supper Shaker is a great and fun concept, but seems rather limited in terms of categories and the number of recipes it comes up with. There were many a time when several shakes only resulted in one or two recipes. Otherwise, the set-up is rather nice to play around with, and easy to read and get around in; it seems as though it would be really helpful in situations like if you were standing around in a grocery store and needed to know what ingredients you needed to buy to complement what you already have. For this app, just a tad more development would be appreciated and some bugs need to be worked out, like the app doesn’t’ respond to physical shaking of the iPhone as you’d expect, but there is a button that you have to press.

Overall a decent try for the second revision recipe app.
