What’s On TV? From Zap2it review

What if I told you that there is an app out there that provides you with a complete schedule of all of your favorite shows? If you are at work in a meeting obsessing over whether the Real Housewives of D.C. starts tonight you simply have to look down at your phone and open up this app. What’s On TV? From Zap2it was developed by Napkin Studios and can be used on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The app is free, easy to use and comes in handy everyday.

What’s On TV is more than just a TV guide. It provides its user with movie showtimes, entertainment news, photo galleries, and an option to customize your favorite TV shows. When you first get into this app you are asked for your location and whether you have analog or cable as well as which cable network you use. The TV section then lists the complete TV schedule for that particular service. You also have the option to change the date and time and What’s On will automatically find you the schedule for then. Another cool feature is that along with the network listed, Vh1 or instance, is the corresponding channel number. You select a show and you can add it to favorites, set a reminder for it, email it, or get a full summary of what the show will be about. If it is a rerun then the app lets you know when it originally aired.

In the Movies section, you can find out which movies are playing today, opened up this week, are now playing, and upcoming movies. In Favorites you can find out upcoming showtimes and information about the cast and crew. The section called The Buzz gives you updates on every piece of information out there concerning TV shows, movies, and the cast and the litigation or contracts involving them. Everything from Oprah Winfrey getting sued for workplace discrimination to an announcement about an auction for the TV show ‘Lost’ can be found in The Buzz.

What’s On is such a great app to have on your phone. I have Direct TV, which gives me access to a complete guide and option to record shows and I still find this app useful.
