Hava is a device that streams your home TV content via your home network, so you can watch it from any computer, and now on your iPhone and iPod touch with the HAVA Player app. The HAVA hardware come in a variety of configurations and cost around $200. The HAVA iPhone app costs $9.99 which lets you stream the data on your mobile. Before you get really excited, we should tell you, that it doesn’t work over 3G at this point.

So if you “have” a HAVA device already, or are willing to hand over some dough to buy one, the HAVA iPhone app would be a great for you. What really ties up our knots with this app, is that you can only use it if your iPhone is hooked into a WiFi connection. So you can’t use on the Bus, at the park, on the hike trail, well you get the point. Because really what’s the point of watching TV on the iPhone if you’re already at home. But still to have your TV streamed to you is still pretty awesome. You can watch and control live TV in bed, in the bathroom, in your backyard, in the jacuzzi etc. for starters.

The HAVA app gives you a squeaky clean on-screen grid styled guide to easily browse what’s coming up in your channel line-up. The remote buttons are transparent iPhone like buttons for navigating your channels and home TV settings.

HAVA works with cable and satellite systems, and TIVO and DVR. So this means you can use the iPhone app if you have anything like DirecTV, Comcast, AT&T, Time Warner, Dish Network, TIVO and most other cable companies.

If you see something you want save, the HAVA app lets you save the video file to your iPhone. Overall a good app for HAVA community, with clean design and a nice feature set. Lack of 3G support is something that is out of the developer’s hands at this point, but once AT&T unleashes the network, this thing will start selling like hotcakes, and be a great upsell for the HAVA devices. Other companies offering similar iPhone video services include Slingbox and hopefully soon Netflix.
