     I wouldn’t worry about your defenses unless you make a lot of money with income. Because that’s what I did and I worked great in the beginning but then after a few levels everyone started beating me because they made more money so that the could buy more.

     For those who don’t know how the game works or what to buy, here:
     When you attack someone you are using all of your best attacking units, 6x the number of people you have in your alliance(5x the level that you are), they defend with their best defensive units. What buying the defensive buildings does is up the defense on a SINGLE unit, so if I have three buildings all that goes to one unit(you don’t even need a unit). So it is a good idea to buy defensive units, but it costs more upfront but then you don’t need to pay any income.
