Zombie Recycling Inc. : Moldy Green review

There is a massive zombie shortage! Quick, join the Zombie recreation factory and do your part in reviving the undeath! Bounce heads onto their proper bodies and let’s make the world a better place… you know… with more zombies… Zombie Recycling comes in two flavors: Moldy Green and Rotten Red. Green is the basic game with the decently challenging levels while red is the much more difficult hardcore game. Both versions cost $1.99 each and are both released by Tecmo, Ltd for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Tilt your iPhone and a bouncing zombie head will move in the direction you tilt. I can’t believe I just typed that… Alright, so your goal in every level is to land the head of the zombie onto its body correctly. This is far more difficult than you’d think though. The head will spin as it bounces around, but when you shake the iDevice, the head will readjust to the proper position. You have to land the head as close as possible to the body at the bottom of the screen. If you land the head improperly, it will either count for fewer points or just be rejected.

Bouncing around isn’t just a simple platformer either. Bombs, moving platforms, electric and flaming areas, and rotating chainsaws of death all try to stop you. I have no idea why, but that’s just how it is. The colors, the bold outlines, and the desaturated backgrounds give this a wonderful comic book style. The art is clean the colors are extremely bold and interesting to look at, and the details for each background have a really unique style.

The game is legitimately challenging, with some levels requiring more than just timing, but absolutely perfect playthroughs. The fun story line is told through comic book pages at the end of each level and captures the silly tone of the game.

Fans of platforming games may love this game and fans who like the distance games where you bounce upwards to get highscores might like the reverse of direction that this game throws you and the challenging obstacles you have to get around. I liked this game and its fun zombie theme. Remember, every penny you spend on Zombie Recycling Inc. : Moldy Green will go to the Create-A-Zombie recycling plant. Please, think of the zombies.
