iYuva review

Created by Uma pandit, iYuva is a drawing app made for the iPhone and iPod touch. You drag preset shapes and manipulate its size, color, and rotation to create colorful images or unique patterns. You can then submit the art to YUVA’s internet gallery that you can check out for some really great pieces of art to simpler ones that have their own charm.

This is an app mainly made for kids and it really does have a simple concept that works well. The app doesn’t have music, moving visuals, or any complex game play. It’s just drag shapes, change its color, rotate it a couple times, and you’re good to go.

The gallery view is actually really good since you get to see some surprisingly detailed art pieces that show off this app’s capability, and trust me, some submissions are amazing. As for myself, I made a green UFO that is beaming up a whale… that was made of cheese.

When you start this app, you have to sign up using an email and setting up a password. I suppose that if you are a parent wanting to give your kids something to draw with on your iPhone, you’d have to set up the account first then you’re good to go. The price isn’t too shabby either for how this program sets up to an online gallery for sharing with friends and family. You can even share images to Facebook or Twitter!

A simple but effective drawing tool and appropriate for kids and adults alike. I never ran into any glitches, crashes, or had any trouble with the interface, so I must say, this app is good for what it is. Being that I have had years of experience working with Photoshop, It’s kind of refreshing to see an art program that isn’t overwhelming or complicated. I’ll be making an orange ninja fighting a pirate zombie after this review is done… and yes, ninjas will still kick a pirates butt.
