Need to make small talk at the dinner table? Just pull out your iPhone and fire up Sax.net’s free app, iDaily. Sure, it’ll probably be awkwardly random small talk, but at least it’s something to break the ice.

iDaily is an app that gives you four options to choose from: Birthdays, Nature, History, and Quote. For that day, you can learn which famous person was born, when the sun will rise or set (along with the current moon phase), something of historical importance, and an interesting quote (respectively). The iPhone app mixes pop culture and history, and refreshes every 24 hours so you can learn something new every day.

iDaily is very simple and clean; you really can’t go wrong when using it. Unfortunately, you cannot go back or forth in the calendar, so you’re stuck with the same facts until the next day. People who enjoy trivial pursuits or reading their daily horoscopes would probably enjoy this free app.
